1 Dead in Annapolis Construction Accident

A Crawford County Highway Department worker was fatally injured Monday when he was crushed by a heavy steel pipe.

Details of the Fatal Annapolis Construction Accident

According to WTHI, the fatal accident occurred around 1:30 pm about a half mile west of the intersection of Illinois Route 1 and N. 2000th Street.

Mark McCoy, 53, was attempting to unload a steel pipe culvert from a trailer when the 2,000 pound pipe rolled and crushed him. McCoy was pronounced dead at the scene.

Officials are investigating the incident.
