According to KSL, a 10-year-old girl suffered from critical injuries after being struck by a car while crossing the street with a friend in Midvale, Utah, on Tuesday.

Details of the Pedestrian-Car Crash

The girl and her friend walked south on Center Street at around 3:50 p.m. when the accident occurred. Police say a car traveling westbound struck the 10-year-old at 400 W. Center Street.

KSL reports that police noted heavy damage to the car’s windshield. The girl received an airlift to Primary Children’s Hospital where she is getting treatment for critical injuries. The victim’s friend was not struck by the car.

Police are investigating the incident and are currently unsure if the girls crossed the street in a crosswalk. Conflicting witness reports make it unclear if the girls ran into the road. In addition, officials do not believe that the juvenile driver was impaired, reports KSL, but police are investigating whether the driver could have been distracted while driving.
