18-wheeler Crashes into Car, Drags Motorist 100+ Yards
Details of Trucking Accident
Roger L. Legas was parked on the shoulder of westbound Interstate 70 in his Chevy Cobalt. The accident occurred around 3:17 p.m. when a westbound 18-wheeler lost control when trying to move to the left lane.
The truck driver, George Guzman, attempted to move over to give Legas’ vehicle room on the shoulder. However, in doing so, the semi slid across the interstate, striking a guardrail on both sides of the highway, reports The Morgan Messenger. Legas, who was sitting in his car without a seatbelt on, was hit by the truck when it slid back to the right side of the interstate. The impact took the top off of the Chevy Cobalt and lodged the car underneath the big rig.
According to The Morgan Messenger, the car was dragged around 110 yards along the guardrail by the semi-truck. Eventually the 18-wheeler came to rest against the guardrail. Legas suffered from only minor injuries in the incident. Guzman was not injured, but officials cited him for losing control of his truck.
