According to U.S. News, the fatal crash occurred early Sunday along Interstate 25, about 18 miles north of Albuquerque.
While the cause of the fatal collision was immediately released, Sandoval County Fire Chief James Maxon did reveal that the collision involved a passenger bus, an 18-wheeler, a pickup, and a car.
Emergency crews had to extricate several people who were trapped in the bus using a tool that pries apart sections of a vehicle.
It is currently unknown whether the three deceased victims were passenger of the bus or if they were traveling in other vehicles involved. Maxon did say that 35 people were on the bus at the time of the collision and that emergency responder assessed 38 people.
