3 Oil Field Workers Injured in Eagle Ford

Three Eagle Ford Shale oil field workers were injured in a blast in Atascosa County on Monday (January 14, 2013). The oil field accident remains under investigation.

Tool Exploded, Caused Life-Threatening Injuries

The San Antonio Express-News is reporting that two men were working in a trailer when a water pipe perforating gun (a tool used in oil field operations) exploded. Both men sustained serious injuries and were airlifted to San Antonio Military Medical Center where they are now receiving care.

Injured Workers Employed by J-W Wireline Company

  • According to KSAT news, the injured workers were employed by J-W Wireline Company.
  • One of the workers is currently in critical condition; the other is in stable.
  • A third worker was also involved in the blast, though he only sustained minor injuries.
  • The incident remains under investigation.
