82-Year-Old Uber Driver Killed by Speeding Lamborghini

According to the Palm Beach Post, an 82-year-old man was killed in a car crash after a speeding Lamborghini slams into his SUV.

Alcohol and Speed Likely Factors in Crash, says Investigators

J. Gerald Smith was on his way home to dinner with his wife when his SUV was crushed by a driver in a Lamborghini. The Palm Beach Post reports that the driver of the Lamborghini, 60-year-old health club mogul Roger Wittenberns, had been drinking in downtown Delray Beach with his girlfriend prior to the crash.

According to police, Wittenberns and his girlfriend were speeding north on Federal Highway, his girlfriend traveling in a matching yellow Porsche, when the accident occurred.

Wittenberns slammed into the front of Smith’s SUV and was ejected from his car. Both Smith and Wittenberns were transported to the hospital, but Smith died soon after arrival. According to the Palm Beach Post, Wittenberns is in critical condition at Delray Medical Center.

Smith was an active and highly rated Uber driver in the area.

A police spokeswoman says it’s too early to tell if charges will be brought upon Wittenberns or his girlfriend for the accident, according to the Palm Beach Post.
