9 Hospitalized After Long Island Pileup

A 10-car crash in North Amityville left nine people hospitalized on Tuesday.

Details of the Amityville Pileup

According to CBS New York, the crash occurred when a 76-year-old man suffered a medical emergency while behind the wheel.

The driver sped up at a red light at the intersection of Route 110 and Bentley Road. He collided with another vehicle before going airborne.

The initial collision set of a chain of crashes that ended up involving 10 cars. Nine people were transported to the hospital, but none of the injuries were considered life-threatening.

The status of the driver and the circumstances of his medical emergency were not immediately available.
