The Star Adviser reports that a former adult daycare staff member has been charged for abusing two of the mentally disabled clients who were under his care.
According to Attorney General Doug Chin, former employee of Responsive Caregivers of Hawaii, Lawrence Paul Miguel, is facing charges on four counts of endangering the welfare of an incompetent person.
Miguel is accused of abusing two people in two separate incidents on June 11, 2014. Thankfully, there was an eyewitness to the incidents who was able to intervene, as both victims are unable to communicate due to their intellectual disabilities.
Miguel bent one client’s wrist backwards before grabbing him by the shirt and forcing him into a wall. The second was forced onto the ground, straddled, and choked after taking a sandwich.
The Attorney General is determined to prosecute, and if Miguel is convicted he faces up to a year in jail.
