Air Movers Recalled for Fire Hazard

Servpro, in cooperation with the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) is recalling about 24,000 Notus air movers/blowers due to a fire hazard.

Four Overheating Incidents Reported

The air mover, manufactured by EDIC, is being recalled because the internal electrical capacitor can fail and overheat which can lead to a fire hazard. According to the recall notice, there have been four incidents of overheating reported, with three causing property damage. One incident caused a fire at a San Diego home that caused around $475,000 in damage. Users should immediately stop using the air mover and contact Servpro for a free repair kit.

Recall Information for Owners

  • Commercial air movers/blowers are used to dry flooring, walls, and furniture.
  • The recalled air movers sit inside an 18” by 18” green plastic housing and have a 25’ yellow electrical cord.
  • The air movers were sold at Servpro franchises nationwide from April 2004 through August 2010 for $200 to $230.
