At Least 1 Dead in Work Bus Crash Near Freeport

At least one person is dead and several others are injured as a result of a work bus crash in Freeport that occurred Tuesday afternoon.

Details of the Freeport Bus Crash

The Laredo Morning Times reports that the bus was carrying about 30 workers from a nearby Zachry Industrial plant when it rolled over on the Highway 36 bridge near the Brazos River.

The bus driver told authorities that he was traveling 60 mph and changing lanes when the back of the bus began to fishtail. The driver over-corrected causing the bus to overturn and roll several times before landing on its side.

One man died at the scene and about 30 other workers were transported to a nearby hospital. The extents of the injuries suffered were not immediately available.

The crash remains under investigation.
