1 Dead, 4 Injured in Hidalgo County Crash

One person is dead and four others are injured as a result of a two-vehicle crash that occurred in Hidalgo County between a Ford Mustang and a Mercury Grand Marquis.

Details of the Hidalgo County Crash

According to Action 4 News, the accident occurred on FM 1925 near Shary Road in Hidalgo County.  It happened around 4 p.m. Monday.

The driver of a Ford Mustang drove off the road and over corrected, causing the Mustang skidded sideways and crash into a Mercury Grand Marquis.

It was confirmed that 21-year-old Isaac Saldana, from Edinburg, was a passenger in the Ford Mustang.  He was killed at the scene of the crash.

Four others were transported to nearby hospitals for medical treatment.

The crash is still being investigated at this time.

  • According to TxDOT, 232,041 people were injured in motor vehicle crashes in 2013.  Out of these, 89,270 sustained serious injuries.
  • The death toll for traffic accidents decreased from 2012 by 1.05 percent with fatalities at 3,377 in 2013.
  • There were 523 people killed in head-on collisions in 2013 and 767 people killed in crashes related to intersections.
