2 Killed in Portland Collision

A car accident in Portland, Texas resulted in the deaths of two people Wednesday evening.

About The Fatal Accident

According to KIII-TV couple was driving down County Road 2004, when they passed a stop sign and a Ford Explorer collided with their vehicle. Both were pronounced dead at the scene.

Kaley Lynn Swallow, a 22 year-old from Corpus Chrisit, and Clayton Paul Glezman, age 26, were identified as the victims by the Nueces County Medical Examiner’s office the day after the accident. Autorities also determined both were wearing seatbelts.

Glezman was an EMT and firefighter for Portland, Texas.

The driver of the Ford explorer is expected to make a full recovery and was taken to Christus Spohn Memorial Hospital.

The investigation is ongoing.

Fatal Accident Statistics In Texas

According to the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) in 2013:

  • 3,402 car accidents resulted because of drivers failing to obey stop signs and red lights.
    • 761 of those crashes resulted in serious injury.
    • 54 resulted in deaths.
  • Only one fatal crash occurred on a county road in Nueces County.
