According to News Talk 1290, 63-year-old Ricky Don Broom of Perrin was traveling eastbound in a Ford pickup on Wednesday, February 28 around 5:20 p.m. when he crossed the median and drifted into oncoming traffic.
A driver in the westbound lanes, 58-year old Dennis Leroy Bennett of Jacksboro, attempted to avoid Broom’s vehicle by driving into the ditch. The two vehicle collided in the ditch.
Bennett was pronounced dead at the scene. Broom died of his injuries at a later time in the hospital. They were the only occupants of the vehicles.
