According to Ohio State Highway Patrol, five adults died in a wrong-way accident in Ohio.
Details of the Ohio Wrong-Way Crash
FOX 8 reports a car which was travelling southbound in the northbound lanes of State Route 7 crashed head-on into SUV driving north around 11 pm on a Saturday.
According to the patrol’s statement, Caleb Ratcliffe, 22, the car’s driver, and Sierra Mattson, 25, his passenger, died at the scene.
Troopers report that the SUV driver, aged 42, and two passengers also died. The two passengers were 21-year-old Sarah Billingsley and 30-year-old Hugh Lasater. There was a third passenger in the SUV who sustained injuries, but the injuries were not life-threatening.

The Institute of Transportation Engineers provided the following statistics about wrong-way accidents:
- There has been an average of 269 fatal wrong-way crashes
- Wrong-way crashes have led to the annual occurrence of 359 deaths in the United States
- Texas, California, and Florida accounted for the highest number of wrong-way fatal crashes and fatalities
- Texas, California, and Florida represent almost one-third of the national total of wrong-way accidents
