Victoria Man Charged after Fatal Accident
Two are dead and many more were injured following a head-on collision along Texas 35 in Refugio County.
According to the Houston Chronicle, the accident occurred August 18 when a 2012 Dodge Ram driven by Leo George Click, 43, of Victoria crossed the center line and struck a 2007 Range Rover carrying four.
The SUV’s driver, Nicole Lowenberg, 45, and one passenger, Samuel Stoffregen, 14, both died as a result of the collision. Lowenberg’s sons, Nicholas, 14, and Try, 10, both survived the accident.
Click is due in court December 16 after being indicted on two charges of criminal negligent homicide and five charges of injury to a child on November 22.
Click is also wanted for parole violation as he has stopped reporting to his parole office. Click has been on parole since summer 2012 as part a six year family violence sentence.
Boy Declared Hero after Accident
Also in Click’s pickup were four passengers including 11-year-old Leo “Willy” Clark, his 9-year-old sister and his 9-year-old cousin.
Willy was the only passenger of the pickup to regain consciousness after the accident and, despite lacerations and a broken finger, was able to drag his sister and cousin from the vehicle. After removing the children and wrapping his sister’s bleeding head with his t-shirt, Willy rushed to help the other victims.
When he was unable to free the two adults in the truck, Willy ran up the road to flag down help. Thanks to his efforts, all the passengers were removed from the vehicle before it caught fire.
