A 26-year-old man was killed in a single car crash in east El Paso last Tuesday.

About the Fatal El Paso Accident

A single vehicle crash at Paso Del Norte Academy resulted in the death of one man, identified as Alexander Repass, 26, reports KFox14.  The crash occurred at the intersection of George Dieter Drive and Vista Del Sol Drive at 2 a.m. on Tuesday, June 23rd.

Police investigators believe that the driver was heading west on the 11400 block of Vista Del Sol Drive in a 2011 Cadillac CTS. He lost control of the vehicle on a curve, causing the car to hit a fence and bus stop bench before rolling over and coming to a stop at 1599 George Dieter Drive.

Responders reported that Repass was not wearing a seatbelt. He died at the scene. Investigators have yet to determine if speed or alcohol are factors in the crash.

A block of Vista Del Sol at George Dieter near the crash was closed by officers for several hours during police response and investigation.

Seat Belt Statistics

  • Seat belt use by adults is the most effective way to save lives in crashes and reduce injury in crashes, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).
  • Seat belts reduce serious injuries and deaths in a crash by about half.
  • Seat belts combined with airbags provide the greatest protection for adults. An airbag alone does not substitute the safety that a seatbelt can provide.
