A Corpus Christi family is suing the woman and the pool hall she was leaving in connection to a fatal pedestrian accident in Corpus Christi that occurred over three years ago.
The victim, Luis Trevino, was run over and killed on Superbowl Sunday by Candace Chesnutt, after she left Paradise Pool Hall.
Information about the Fatal Pedestrian Accident
- The accident occurred as Chesnutt was leaving the Pool Hall.
- She initially left the scene, but was caught on camera minutes before the incident took place – her husband later turned her in after seeing the video.
- It was determined that Chesnutt was drunk as she left the pool hall. She served two and a half years in prison of her six year sentence for failing to stop and render aid.
New Developments in the Corpus Christi Accident
“Despite knowing that Candace Chesnutt was intoxicated to the point of being an extreme danger to herself and others, defendant and its employees continued to serve Candace Chesnutt alcoholic beverages.” – Plaintiffs’ lawsuit as published by KRIS-TV
KRIS-TV reports that Trevino’s family is now suing Chesnutt and Paradise Billiards for an undisclosed amount of money, saying Chesnutt’s intoxication is to blame for their pain and expenses caused by the incident.
The lawsuit claims Paradise Billiards over-served Chesnutt that night, leading to the eventual death of Trevino and therefore should be considered negligent.
Paradise Billiards recently merged with a company called Clicks, but it’s the managing partners of Paradise Billiards that the family is suing.
Chesnutt was reached for a comment but wasn’t home. Paradise Billiards was also contacted with no success.
