A man has been charged in connection with a fatal collision near Freeport, Illinois that killed one person and left another injured.
About the Fatal Freeport Accident
According to Sauk Valley Media, a 69-year-old man, James R. Battisti, was involved in a fatal June 8th accident that killed a Dixon man, Brad Wohrley. Battisti, is now being charged with improper lane usage and failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident.
Battisti is said to have had a medical issue and passed out while he was driving. During the incident Battisti’s SUV veered into oncoming traffic and collided with Wohrley’s 1957 Chevrolet.
Wohrley and his wife Mary were the only two occupants of the 1957 Chevrolet. Brad Wohrley was pronounced dead at the scene, while his wife was transported to Rockford Memorial Hospital in stable condition.
Since the vehicle the Wohrley’s were riding in was 57-years-old it had not been properly equipped with seatbelts.
