A California man is dead and two El Pasoans are injured following a collision on a Hudspeth County highway.
About the Crash in Hudspeth County
According to reports, the deadly crash in Hudspeth County happened August 10 on U.S. Highway 62/180 around 5:30 a.m.
Investigations show that 29-year-old Gildrado Alberto Andujo Gonzalez from Glendale, California, was traveling west on the highway when he swerved his Honda Accord into the opposite lane and crashed head-on with a Ford F-150 pickup.
Gonzalez was found dead inside his vehicle when authorities arrived. The driver of the pick-up truck and his passenger, both from El Paso, suffered incapacitating injuries and were flown by helicopter to the University Medical Center of El Paso.
Officials closed the highway approximately 22 miles east of the Border Patrol checkpoint for hours while they investigated. DPS officials said that overnight rainfall had caused slickness on the highway at the time of the crash.
