Plantersville Sees 2 Crashes, Firefighter Killed
Plantersville firefighters responded to two different auto accidents in less than twenty-four hours. The accidents occurred less than 300 feet from each other.
About the Plantersiville Collisions
KHOU reports that both crashes happened on FM 1774 near CR 302.
The first crash occurred on Saturday and involved three female passengers. The passenger in the backseat, Harley Mullinex, 20, was killed in the collision. She was a volunteer firefighter.
The driver and other passenger were two women, both pregnant. Both were seriously injured.
The second crash happened less than a day later when two of the SUV’s collided. One SUV, a Toyota RAV4 had three people trapped inside – all were rushed to the hospital. The victims are in critical condition.
According to police, the driver of the RAV4 did not yield the right of way. Police are still investigating and are unsure if someone will be charged.

- 1,883 deaths were attributed to crashes that occurred in rural areas of the state, and 523 deaths were the result head-on collisions.
- Another 232,041 people were injured in motor vehicle collisions with 89,270 suffering serious injuries.
