KOMO News is reporting that an accident involving a motor vehicle and a motorcycle that happened along the Maple Valley Highway proved to be fatal.

Renton police report that the accident happened at about 5 a.m. Tuesday morning when a driver was heading west on Maple Valley Highway and tried to make a right turn onto 154th Place Southeast, and hit the motorcyclist, who was also traveling west at the time of the accident.

The impact of the collision launched the motorcyclist into the path of an oncoming pickup truck. The motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident, according to police.

The Maple Valley Highway was closed for some time due to cleanup and the preliminary investigation into the causes and circumstances of the accident.
