Texas A&M Student Killed in Car Accident
About the Fatal Woodlands Accident
A student and member of the Corps of Cadets at Texas A&M University identified as Thomas Bratcher, 19, was killed Thursday afternoon.
According to KBTX, Bratcher was driving a 2008 Ford Mustang when he tried to pass a vehicle in a no passing zone. Bratcher collided head on with a Chevy Pickup truck heading Northbound on Gosling Road.
The driver of the truck is listed as being in stable condition while a passenger in the truck was uninjured. Bratcher was trapped inside his vehicle and had to be freed by rescuers, but he later died on the scene.
Bratcher had just finished his freshman year at Texas A&M University where he was a Corps Cadet and also a member of the Corps basketball team.

- In 2013, the total number of crashes that resulted from a driver changing lanes when it was unsafe to do so was 4,319.
