Triple Fatal Crash on Highway 91
According to KTLA5, a man and his two young children died after a triple fatal vehicle crash occurred.
KTLA5 and the Triple Fatal Crash
In Artesia, California, a triple fatal crash that happened earlier this week. The accident occurred just after 1:00 a.m. in the morning on the westbound 91 Freeway west of Pioneer Boulevard, according to California Highway Patrol Jeremy Tolen. A gas tanker truck was rear-ended by a red Jeep traveling in the No. 3 lane on the 91 Freeway. According to Tolen, the collision between the Jeep and the gas tanker truck caused the Jeep to lose control and end up in the center median, causing another collision to occur. The second collision caused the Jeep to overturn. Immediately after the Jeep overturned, it was hit by a BMW sedan.
There were three people in the Jeep at the time of the multiple collisions, and all three of them were pronounced dead at the scene. The BMW sedan held a woman and a child, who sustained minor injuries as a result of the crash. The health status of the driver of the gas tanker truck is unknown at this time.
According to Officer Tolen, alcohol was not believed to have been involved in the accident; however, speed was thought to be a leading factor in the collision. The Jeep was traveling over 55 mph at the time of the collision, and the tanker truck was traveling at 55 mph when the Jeep crashed into it from the rear. The three that were fatally injured as a result of the collision have been identified by the Los Angeles County coroner’s office as father Lavell Mann, aged 33, and his two sons, Logan Mann, age 3, and Legend Mann, only 9 months old.
