Details about the Fatal Accident
The Lufkin Daily News is reporting that two young residents from Crockett were killed in a single-vehicle rollover accident that happened just about four miles south of Kennard County early on Sunday morning, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety.
17-year-old Mariaah Lopez was killed at the scene of the accident that happened on FM 357 at about 5 a.m. on Sunday morning, and 22-year-old Brendan Galloway was taken from the scene to the Houston County Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead at about 6 a.m.
A preliminary investigation into the accident by the Texas Department of Public Safety has indicated that 18-year-old Austin Cline Catoe, of Crockett, was driving a Chevy pickup north on FM 357 when he left the roadway to the right, rolled over, and hit multiple trees.
Catoe was taken to the hospital where he was treated and released.
The accident currently remains under investigation by the Department of Public Safety.
