UPS Truck Driver Dies in Collision with 18-Wheeler
According to ABC 13, a UPS truck driver dies after crashing into the back of an 18-wheeler car carrier in Walker County, Texas.
UPS Truck Became Attached to Car Carrier
The driver of the 18-wheeler car hauler experienced a sudden, violent jolt at around 2:30 a.m., and when he pulled over, he found the crushed 18-wheeler UPS truck attached to the back of his rig.
The driver of the UPS truck was pronounced dead at the scene, says ABC 13. He was from Keller, Texas.
Several of the vehicles being hauled in the carrier were crushed by the UPS truck.
According to a Texas DPS officer, another driver, who was experiencing a medical emergency, crashed into a Huntsville police patrol car that was blocking the road during the 18-wheeler incident. Neither the driver nor officer were injured, reports ABC 13, but the driver was transported to the hospital.

- Fatalities in crashes involving large trucks declined by 2 percent from 3,981 deaths in 2013 to 3,903 deaths in 2014.
- Of the 3,903 fatalities involving large trucks in 2014,
- 73 percent were occupants of other vehicles
- 17 percent were occupants of large trucks
- 10 percent were nonoccupants (pedestrians, pedalcyclists, etc.)
- From 2013 to 2014, there was a 19-percent increase in the number of injured occupants of other vehicles involved in large truck crashes, from 69,000 injured in 2013 to 82,000 injured in 2014.
