The New Jersey Star-Ledger has reported one woman killed and three others injured in an alleged drunk driving accident on the Garden State Parkway early Sunday morning.
Details of the Fatal Crash
New Jersey State police told the Star-Ledger that a gray Scion carrying three passengers crashed early Sunday morning in Brick Township, NJ. Passenger Britzi Flores, 22, was pronounced dead at the scene. Two other passengers, Jose Flores and Jessenia Morales, both 23, sustained non-life-threatening injuries in the crash. Both passengers and the driver were taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.
Police say that the driver, Kenneth Fonseca, 23, was driving the Scion when he veered off the road, hit a guardrail and overturned the vehicle down an embankment. The accident happened around 4:18 a.m.
Fonseca faces several charges, including driving while intoxicated, driving with a suspended license and causing a death while driving with a suspended license, police said. He is currently being held on $50,000 bail. Police also said additional criminal charges were pending.

According to Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD), there were 164 drunk driving fatalities in New Jersey in 2012, representing 28% of all traffic-related deaths that year. Drunk driving accidents are estimated to cost New Jersey tax payers $1.1 billion annually.
