21-Year-Old Pedestrian Killed by Alleged Drunk Driver

According to The Journal News, a student at Manhattanville College in Purchase, New York, was walking toward campus when he was killed by a suspected drunk driver on Sunday morning.

Driver Faces Vehicular Homicide Charge

Twenty-one-year-old Robby Schartner walked along Westchester Avenue at approximately 5:00 a.m. local time when the accident occurred. Under the Anderson Hill Road overpass, a driver struck and killed Schartner.

The driver of the vehicle, 24-year-old Emma Fox, called the police herself after the incident, saying that she may have hit something, reports The Journal News. Police administered a blood-alcohol content test after the fatal crash, and Fox turned in a 0.21 – nearly three times the legal limit.

Police placed Fox under arrest and charged her with vehicular homicide and driving while intoxicated. Currently, Fox is being held at Westchester County jail.

Schartner, a junior at Manhattanville, was on the lacrosse team, according to The Journal News.
