Bicyclist Struck and Killed by Car in Hit-and-Run

According to the OC Register, a male bicyclist is dead after being hit by a car that fled the scene in Stanton, California, on Wednesday morning.

About the Bicycle Accident

The fatal bicycle accident occurred at the intersection of Chapman Avenue and Beach Boulevard at approximately 2:40 a.m. local time. A man was riding his bike across the street when he was struck by a car. Before officials arrived at the scene, the motorist drove away.

The bicyclist, an adult male, was taken to UCI Medical Center in Orange but would later die from injuries sustained in the wreck. The OC Register reports that police officers made a traffic stop of a vehicle that matched the description of the suspected car, but no arrests were made.

The OC Register reports that the investigation is ongoing. It is currently unknown if the bicyclist was in a marked crosswalk or if the driver potentially ran through a red light.
