Bobcat Falls Through Yonkers Store Roof, 5 Injured

According to authorities a Bobcat vehicle fell through the roof of the National Wholesale Liquidators store in Yonkers, New York located on Central Park Avenue. The Yonkers Fire Department describes it as a “major roof collapse.”

Details on the Incident

According to ABC 7 news, construction crews were repairing a parking lot just before the concrete below the parking lot suddenly caved in, dropping the machine, the operator, and the passenger approximately 30 feet into the store below.

The whole was about 30 feet by 40 feet; dozens of people were inside the store during the incident. A large portion of the roof was destroyed as well.

According to authorities two people on the Bobcat and three people below it were injured. None of the injuries were life threatening. The most serious injury was a fractured hip.

All of the victims are being treated.

ABC 7 news confirms that the accident is currently under investigation. Engineering crews are trying to discover how to successfully remove the debris inside the store.
