The injury accident occurred at around 4:40 a.m. local time in the northbound lanes of Interstate 5. Near Highway 41, a tractor-trailer crashed into the rear of a Greyhound Bus bound for San Francisco.
The bus drove off the road following the collision and ended up on an embankment. KFSN reports that the box truck flipped over onto its side on the shoulder of the interstate. The bus was carrying several dozen passengers, three of which were transported to a local hospital with minor injuries. One of the hospitalized passengers was a six-year-old girl.
The driver of the box truck also suffered injuries in the wreck, according to KFSN. Northbound lanes were closed for several hours following the collision. Approximately 50 passengers were stranded before being picked up by another bus. Investigators say the truck driver does not recall the crash occurring, citing he may have fallen asleep prior to the crash.
KFSN reports that officials do not believe the truck driver was under in the influence at the time of the accident.
