Arkansas Bus Crash Leaves 6 People Hospitalized
Serious school bus crash leaves multiple students in hospital with injuries Friday morning (February 21) in Craighead County, Arkansas.
About the Morning Bus Accident
Arkansas state authorities detailed that a bus crash, occurring near Bono on Highway 63 around 9:30 a.m., resulted in six individuals sustaining injuries. Photography of the horrible incident revealed that the bus was being operated by the Lawrence County School District Walnut Ridge and seated 19 passengers at the time of crash.
Seven passengers suffered from various injuries and verbally complained of neck, back, and knee pains. Shortly after the crash, the school district’s superintendent, Terry Belcher, arrived at the scene. He made the comment that the bus was headed to a vocational class at Jonesboro High School. Members of the Arkansas State Police including the public information officer, Bill Sadler, investigated the scene and cause of crash.
Sadler initially suspected the bus crashed into a commercial carrier trailer. It wasn’t until later in the afternoon that Sadler released official, non-preliminary information about the situation stating that six students suffered injury.
This is Lawrence County’s second crash this year.

- There were two documented school bus related deaths in the state of Arkansas in 2018
- Statistics show a higher number of people outside of the bus involved in crashes (pedestrians, other drivers, etc.) are more likely to be injured than passengers on the bus in certain cases
