Car Crashes through Home Daycare Living Room

According to KENS, a home daycare is in shock after a woman drives her car through the house, crashing through the living room and missing a child by a matter of moments.

Driver Passed out behind Wheel before Crash, says witnesses

Witnesses claim they saw the driver passed out behind the wheel down the street around 9:00 a.m. on Thursday morning before the incident. According to KENS, when they tried to wake her, she slammed on the gas and crashed through the home daycare front window.

Luckily, none of the seven children or adults inside were injured during the crash.

One of the children, a 3-month-old girl, was moved into the kitchen from the living room moments before the crash, according to KENS.

KENS reports that the woman said she was going to call her husband but instead fled the scene on foot.

San Antonio police are currently searching for the woman. Witnesses believe the driver could have been under the influence of alcohol or drugs, according to KENS.

Impaired Driving Statistics

The following information is provided by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC):

  • In 2014, 9,967 people were killed in alcohol-impaired driving crashes, accounting for nearly one-third (31%) of all traffic-related deaths in the United States.
  • Drugs other than alcohol (legal and illegal) are involved in about 16% of motor vehicle crashes.
  • Marijuana users were about 25% more likely to be involved in a crash than drivers with no evidence of marijuana use, however other factors – such as age and gender – may account for the increased crash risk among marijuana users.
