Child Abuse Under Daycare Worker Supervision Leads to Detainment

Diamond Kelley5 months ago

Nassau County Police of Long Island, New York confirmed the arrest of a 19-year-old daycare worker who allegedly left a young child in scalding hot bath water.

Events Leading up to the Daycare Worker Arrest

Yenci Elizabeth Lopez was put under arrest after putting a 2-year-old child in a burning hot tub of water Sunday, December 5. The child was left in the tub unattended for an extended period despite complaints from the uncomfortable child.

The young boy was diagnosed with second degree burns over 20 percent of his body at a local hospital’s burn unit. Lopez quickly left the hurt child without attending to his wounds while she was assigned to caring for him.

Despite caring for the family’s child for long periods, the family issued out an arrest for Lopez’s heinous crime without hesitation. Currently, Lopez faces child endangerment charges and reporters are unsure whether she has a lawyer yet.

Statistics of Daycare Provider Abuse

  • Boys and girls were both equally likely to be abused with girl having a slightly higher percentage.
