Eight-Year-Old Fatally Injured in Two-Vehicle Crash

According to The Lima News, an eight-year-old child was killed in a two-vehicle wreck in Lima, Ohio, on Monday afternoon.

About the Fatal Car Accident

The car crash occurred at the intersection of Lawrence Road and Clum Road at around 5:50 p.m. local time. Lisa M. Alexander, 29, was driving east on Clum Road with her eight-year-old son, Gavin Reed, when their vehicle was hit by a pickup truck traveling south on Lawrence Road.

Officials say the truck driver, 31-year-old Richard J. Ortiz, failed to yield to Alexander’s car. Alexander’s car was pushed off the road and into a cemetery, where it struck multiple headstones. The Lima News reports that boy suffered life-threatening injuries and was hospitalized. The eight-year-child died from injuries sustained in the crash later that day. Alexander suffered from serious but non-life-threatening injuries and remains in stable condition.

According to The Lima News, alcohol and drugs did not play a role in the fatal wreck. Every occupant involved in the crash was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the collision. It is unknown if charges will be filed in the incident.
