According to the Daily Mail, 17-year-old Tabatha Romaker was fatally injured when the vehicle she was traveling in lost control and was struck at an intersection. The driver of the vehicle, Frankie Santos, also 17, is listed in critical condition at the Medical Center for Arlington, Texas.
The fatal collision occurred around 9:45 pm as Romaker and Santos returned from a dinner date. Preliminary reports indicate Santos’ vehicle began hydroplaning before spinning out of control. The vehicle came to rest in the center of an intersection where it was t-boned by another vehicle.
Romaker was transported to the hospital with life-threatening injuries where she underwent emergency surgery. She survived the surgery but suffered blood loss and passed away around 4 am Sunday.
Romaker had spent the day with her mother, shopping and preparing for her upcoming prom.
The drive of the other vehicle was also transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
