3 Dead in Caldwell County Car Crash

A father and his two sons are dead following an auto accident at an intersection in Caldwell County, Texas Saturday morning.

Father and Sons Killed in County Auto Accident

According to KXAN, Joe Antony Salas-Castro was traveling northbound on U.S. 183 with his two sons and daughter when his SUV was struck by a FedEx van.

Authorities state that the 35-year-old FedEx driver, Enrique Alvarez, failed to stop at a flashing red light at the intersection of F.M. 1185 and U.S. 183, and struck the GMC Jimmy carrying Salas-Castro and his children.

Salas-Castro and his two sons, 9-year-old Joe Anthony Salas and 4-year-old Jayden Joshua Salas, were killed in the collision.  Salas-Castro’s daughter, 2-year-old Jazalynn Nicole Salas, suffered serious injuries and rush rushed to Dell Children’s Hospital in Austin.

Alvarez was transported to UMC Brackenridge and is listed in good condition.

Authorities are investigating the accident.
