North Texas School Buses Recalled – Risk of Crash Injury
Jeremiah Ajayi7 months ago
Daimler Trucks North America has issued a recall of 53,528 buses across the nation. Reports now indicate that some of these buses were and are being used as school buses in North Texas, including the Dallas-Fort Worth-area.
According to Daimler, these recalled buses do not have adequately padded seats, leading to reduced protection of passengers during accidents.
Details of the North Texas Buses Recall
According to NBC-DFW, Daimler Trucks North America has recalled its Thomas Built buses. The recall reports that the seats of these buses were produced with styrene blocks. These blocks hinder adequate impact absorption around the seats. Without the presence of impact absorption, passengers are more exposed to the risk of being injured in a crash.
Daimler said these buses have failed to comply with the Federal Motor Vehicle Safety standard’s requirements regarding crash protection.
Officially, the recall, which starts on December 2, will begin with Daimler notifying the owners of the buses. Afterward, the recalled buses will have more materials installed between its vinyl and back to improve its seats’ impact absorption at a minimal cost.
Buses Affected by the Recall
The recall affects the following buses:
2014-2020 Thomas Built Buses Minotaur models.
2014-2020 Thomas Built Buses SAF-T-liner C2 models
