KSAT reports that Tracie Sheppard, 29, was part of a crew clearing road signs from a previous road closure at around 3:45 am when a dark gray Ford Explorer veered off the road and hit a construction truck. Sheppard became pinned between two vehicles and was killed.
Sheppard had parked her company truck on the right shoulder of the expressway, and her warning lights were on at the time of the fatal collision.
According to witnesses, the driver fled the scene and the driver did not stop to render aid.
The suspect has since been located by police.
