Justin Fey, 49, was driving on Loop 1604 on Saturday between Schuwirth Road and FM 1346 on San Antonio’s east side. Fey crossed into the opposite lane while attempting to pass another vehicle. According to News 4 SA, Fey crashed his vehicle into an oncoming pickup truck.
The man and woman in the front seats of the pickup truck died at the scene of the crash. Three children in the backseat of the truck suffered injuries, one taken by helicopter to University Hospital. The other two children also received treatment at University Hospital. News 4 SA reports that the children are expected to recover.
Police believe Fey was intoxicated during the crash. Fey faces several charges, including two counts of intoxication manslaughter, two counts of intoxication assault, and one charge of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
According to the San Antonio Express-News, Fey is a civilian member of the 502nd Security Forces Squadron at JBSA-Fort Sam Houston. Fey sustained only minor injuries during the fatal crash.
