Driver Kills Pedestrian after Swerving to Avoid Woman in Road

According to the Visalia Times-Delta, a pedestrian died after being hit by a car that lost control in Farmersville, California, on Sunday afternoon.

No Citations Issued, Investigation Ongoing

Daniel Ledesma, 37, was walking on the sidewalk on Visalia Road when the fatal accident happened. An 18-year-old driver heading east on Visalia approached the intersection of Shasta Avenue when a woman was crossing the road.

The driver swerved to avoid the woman and lost control of his car, partially hopping the sidewalk curb, reports the Visalia Times-Delta. The vehicle crashed into Ledesma, killing him at the scene. After striking the pedestrian, the car crashed into a fence before coming to rest at a power pole.

The driver and his female passenger were uninjured in the crash, reports the Visalia Times-Delta. The investigation is ongoing, and officials say the results will determine if any citations are issued.
