Drunk Driver Paralyzes California Boy

ABC 7 Eyewitness News reports that on Christmas Eve, a 13-year-old boy, Elijah, was critically injured in a crash involving a drunk driver. His doctors predict he will never walk again. The drunk driver is alleged to be his older relative.

The crash happened around 10 p.m. just north of Maria Street in Rancho Dominguez.

The teenager is being treated at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center and has already undergone several procedures.

Kamisha Johnson, the boy’s mother, explained the prognosis was particularly painful because her son played football and aimed to do so in college.

Elijah wants others to learn from his experience and know not to drink and drive. The incident is being investigated by the California Highway Patrol
