Drunk Off-duty Police Officer Sustains Injuries after Crashing into House

According to WINK, an off-duty police officer crashed into a house after driving drunk in Cape Coral, Florida, early Saturday morning.

Details of Drunk Driving Wreck

The single-vehicle crash occurred at approximately 2:00 a.m. local time at the residence located at 422 Nicholas Parkway E. Officer Emily Zyvolski, 33, crashed into the garage of the house, causing significant structural damage to the building.

Zyvolski was driving a private vehicle at the time of the crash, according to WINK. An officer since 2007, Zyvolski had a blood-alcohol level of .253, which is more than three times the legal limit. She sustained life-threatening injuries in the crash and is currently in fair condition at a local hospital.

According to WINK, Zyvolski will be placed on administrative leave as the investigation is ongoing. Charges are pending the results of the criminal investigation. The owner of the residence says speeding is an issue on Nicholas Parkway near her home.
