Driver, Child, and Mother-in-Law Killed in South Houston Crash

Three people were killed Sunday evening in a car crash in south Houston. Authorities say speed was a factor in the crash.

Details of the Houston Collision

According to the reports, police were called to the scene of an auto accident on State Highway 288 at Bellfort Boulevard around 5 pm Sunday.

Preliminary reports indicate the crash occurred when a Dodge Ram pickup traveling at a high rate of speed crashed into a Chevrolet Aveo.

The driver of the Aveo, his mother-in-law, and his child were all killed in the crash. The driver’s wife was taken to an area hospital and is expected to survive.

The driver of the Dodge Ram and his two passengers were uninjured. The driver of the pickup has been charged with possession of marijuana and could face additional charges.

    • One person was killed in a traffic accident in Texas every 2 hours and 29 minutes.
    • One person was injured every 2 minutes and 8 seconds.
    • A reportable crash occurred every 61 seconds.
