According to NBC New York, the recall affects 400,000 2015-2017 model year Ford Transit van and bus vehicles.
A release from the automaker revealed to the vehicles are prone to separations of the driveshaft which could leave motorists without motive power while driving and result in unintended vehicle movement when the vehicle is in park.
Further, Ford states that separation of the driveshaft could result in other damage, including damage to the brake and fuel lines.
Ford will be notifying owners of affected vehicles; however, details on a proposed fix were not immediately available.
Affected vehicle were built in the company’s Kansas City assembly plant between January 17, 2014 and June 15, 2017.
Ford is not aware of any injuries or accidents resulting from the defect.
