CBS DFW is reporting an accident that occurred at 2:30 a.m. at the intersection of Main Street and Long Avenue in Forth Worth, Texas. A patrol officer was responding to a call when his patrol car was struck by an SUV. At the time of the accident, the officer was traveling north on Main Street. The SUV, headed east on Long Avenue, allegedly ran a light.
The officer sustained what is described as serious but non-life-threatening injuries in the collision. He was taken to John Peter Smith Hospital for treatment. Also injured in the crash was the driver of the SUV and a passenger. Both are reported as having non-life-threatening injuries.
The crash is under investigation. Authorities will look at whether or not alcohol was a factor.
