Frisco Woman Killed After Stopping to Help at Crash Scene

46-year-old Julia Zaman of Frisco was killed Monday night while attempting to help victims of a previous crash.

Good Samaritan Pronounced Dead at the Scene

According to NBC DFW, Zaman witnessed a Kia SUV strike a concrete barrier along the Dallas North Tollway around 10:30 pm.

Zaman pulled over and exited her vehicle to assist the occupants in the other vehicle, but was struck by a Chevrolet Camaro after getting out of her SUV. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the Kia and a passenger were transported to area hospitals with unknown injuries.

A second crash occurred between a sedan and an SUV due to rubbernecking on the service road. The sedan caught fire and the driver of that vehicle was transported to the hospital with unknown injuries.

Zuniga leaves behind a husband of 22 years and a 15-year-old daughter.

  • 3,531 traffic-related fatalities were recorded in Texas in 2015. This marked little charge from the 3,536 deaths recorded in 2014.
  • An additional 246,335 people were injured in auto accidents in Texas in 2015 with 17,011 people suffering serious injuries.
  • Based on reportable crash data for 2015, TxDOT estimates:
    • One person was killed in a traffic accident in Texas every 2 hours and 29 minutes.
    • One person was injured every 2 minutes and 8 seconds.
    • A reportable crash occurred every 61 seconds.
