High School Student Killed, Two Others Severely Injured in Car Crash

According to Fox 59, a young man was killed and two others severely hurt in a car crash on U.S. Highway 136 east of Nucor Road in Crawfordsville, Indiana.

Crash Still Under Investigation

The 17-year-old high school student, Thomas Edwards, was driving on U.S. 136 when the accident occurred. Edwards’ car collided with the vehicle of Kelly Kruse, 39. In addition, there was a passenger in Kruse’s car at the time of the wreck.

The details of the crash are mostly unknown, according to Fox 59. A crash re-constructionist was called to the scene of the accident to determine the cause. In addition, the results of a toxicology test are pending.

Edwards was pronounced dead after being taken to Franciscan Health Crawfordsville, according to Fox 59. The occupants of the other vehicle were also transported to the same hospital to receive treatment for severe injuries.

The Journal Review reports that Edwards is the third Crawfordsville High School student to be killed in a car crash since 2013.

  • 105,000 more people were injured in crashes in 2015 compared to 2014.
  • Fatal multiple-vehicle crashes increased by 11.2 percent from 2014.
