Hit-and-Run Driver Charged after Striking, Killing 43-year-old Pedestrian

According to KXAN, police have arrested the hit-and-run driver who caused the wrongful death of a pedestrian in Round Rock, Texas, on Friday night.

Details of Fatal Pedestrian-Car Accident

Sean Kelley, 43, a beloved teacher and coach at Stony Point High School, was hit by a truck while crossing the street at around 11:00 p.m. Kelley had just left Rockey’s Piano Bar where he was hanging out with a friend.

Officials say Kelley attempted to cross Main Street at the intersection of Mays Street when Javier Morales-Ramirez, 33, ran a red light and struck and killed Kelley with his pickup truck. KXAN reports that Morales-Ramirez fled the scene of the crash without assisting with the wounded man.

According to KXAN, police found that Morales-Ramirez was involved in a physical altercation with his girlfriend prior to the deadly pedestrian accident. He was placed under arrest for assault charges, and on Monday afternoon, he was charged with failure to stop and render aid in connection with the pedestrian crash.
