Inmate Van Struck by 18-Wheeler, Five Injured


According to The News Star, an inmate transport van was involved in a wreck with an 18-wheeler on Interstate 20 in Monroe, Louisiana.

Truck Driver Cited for Careless Operation

An inmate transport van was heading eastbound on Interstate 20 near Millhaven Road when an 18-wheeler slammed into the rear of the transport van. According to The News Star, the accident occurred at around 4:00 p.m. local time, causing a nearly two hour traffic backup.

The van, which included four inmates and a deputy, was slowing while approaching traffic when it was struck by the semi-truck. All four inmates and the deputy were transported to an area hospital for treatment of injuries.

According to The News Star, the driver of the 18-wheeler was given a ticket for careless operation.
