According to news reports, a Jersey City Police Officer was taken to the hospital last Wednesday with injuries after a piece of concrete fell from the Trump Tower construction site onto the street below.

Details of the Trump Tower Construction Accident

Workers on one of the upper floors of the tower were cutting and stacking cinder blocks when one fell and struck the officer in the torso. Local law enforcement responded by closing the streets below the construction site and work on the over $190 million dollar project has been suspended.

City officials have stated that the project will remain in suspension until proper safety precautions are put into place for the construction. Presently the project lacks scaffolding and the city has voiced concerned about excessive debris and improperly secured safety netting.

This response comes after a similar incident occurred in November when a man died after being struck by a tool which fell from the 50th floor of a nearby construction site.
